SAQIEL: Safe Manipulator with Passive 3D Wire Alignment Mechanism

Business & Research, end effector, robot

This is the SAQIEL: an ultra-lightweight robot with a passive 3D wire aligner that achieves low inertia when it operates. As the researchers explain, this robot has 7 degrees of freedom. It weighs only 1.5kg. It uses a clever mechanism to wind wires using motors.

As the above video shows, this robot went through a wide variety of tests. It can quickly react to balls coming its way or send a tiny block flying 4.8m with max 18.5m/s end effector velocity.
