JPL’s Snake Robot EELS for Space Exploration Missions
Here is a snake robot that can one day explore the surface of other planets in our solar system. JPL’s Snake Robot EELS can autonomously map, traverse and explore challenging areas on Earth. It can operate in snowy, sandy, and icy environments.
EELS is designed to autonomously sense its environment and gather data with sensors on its head. It weighs 220lbs, measuring 13ft long. More information is available here.
